Scansnap Manager Folder Icon
The main purpose of ScanSnap is to scan documents. Most of us primarily scan to PDF but there are many instances where you may want to scan an image or photograph to JPEG.
Specify a folder on a local disk as the installation folder. When installing Scan Snap Manager, first log on as an Administrator. Make sure that you restart your computer after installing Scan Snap Manager. The re-boot registers Scan Snap to the system. Uninstall Scan Snap Manager and reinstall Scan Snap Manager.
For those of us with shoe boxes of photos and images, scanning to JPEG with ScanSnap is a quick way to digitize all of those. Scanning to JPEG is also great for handwritten notes that you scan to your account.
The Evernote application can perform Image Character Recognition (ICR) on handwritten JPEG images and make those notes searchable within your Evernote account.To easily scan to JPEG, I suggest you create a Scan to JPEG that you can utilize whenever needed. Click on the links below to learn how to create a Scanning to JPEG profile for your particular ScanSnap model:S1300 (/),For S1500 and S1300 on a PC, follow the instructions below:1.
Right click on the ScanSnap icon below in the taskbar.2. Then select “Scan Button Settings” in the menu below to open the ScanSnap Manager.3. Once the ScanSnap Manager is open, uncheck the box next to “Use Quick Menu” to. Then click on “Detail” to expand the settings tabs. This will open the ScanSnap Manager software in which we can control all the scanner settings.4.
Click on “Add Profile” and add a title to your new profile. In this instance, I named the profile “Scan to JPEG.” Click “OK.”5. Then click on the first tab labeled “Application” and select the application you would like to send your JPEG images to. In this instance, I selected “Scan to File.”6.
Next, click on the second tab labeled “Save” and select the destination folder where you want to have your JPEG scans saved. In this instance, I used “C:Documents and SettingsmfowlerMy DocumentsMy Pictures.”7. Next, select the “Scanning” tab. The second drop down list labeled “Color mode” gives you several options but the default setting is “Auto Color Detection.” Simply change this option to “Color” as shown highlighted in the image below.The third drop down list labeled “Scanning side” gives you the option to scan singled-sided or double-sided. I decided to select single-sided scanning since most of the time I will be scanning single-sided photos into JPEG.8. Finally, select the next tab to the right labeled “File Option.” Under the “File Format” drop down list you will now have both PDF and JPEG options, select “JPEG.”You have now completed all of the settings and you can click “OK” at the bottom of the ScanSnap Manager to save your “Scan to JPEG” profile.
You can click on the ScanSnap icon in your system tray to view and select the various scanning profiles available.For S1500M or S1300 on a Mac follow the instructions below:1. Open the ScanSnap Manager software by pointing your mouse to the ScanSnap icon in the dock and click and hold to bring up the menu below if you have Leopard Mac OS.Or if you have Snow Leopard Mac OS, hold ctrl and click on the ScanSnap icon. Then click on “Settings” to open the ScanSnap Manager. This will launch the ScanSnap Manager software in which you can control all the scanner settings.2. Normally this error will only come up when you have already tried installing the Scansnap Manager.Go to C:WindowsSSDriver. Right click the folder and select properties, select the security tab, then make sure 'Users' has full control.Repeat these steps on the PFU folder in Program Files.Put in the Scansnap disk and navigate to the Tools folder. Run the SSCleaner tool and delete all of the Scansnap components.If Scansnap Manager is not listed in the Cleaner tool, Delete the contents of the SSDriver and PFU folders manually.Restart the computer and reinstall the components.Posted on Jul 08, 2013.
